Resonate: Sports Medicine & Rehab Performance

Chiropractic

My name is Dr. Lucas Rascon, DC. I was born and raised in Southern California, Santa Barbara. Growing up I always had a deep love for athletics and pursued this interest through participation in sports such as football, wrestling, and rugby. After graduating from Santa Barbara City College, I decided to continue my athletic and academic journey at California Lutheran University. CLU is where I began studying Exercise Science with an emphasis in human performance. I also earned a position as a Rugby captain for the 2016-2017 season.

In the beginning of my final rugby season I sustained a knee injury. The initial diagnosis and management plan rendered I was cleared to play even though there was severe cartilaginous damage and a meniscus tear. Unfortunately, this resulted in significant deterioration and required surgery. The next post surgical recovery period was incredibly difficult. I was immobilized for five months, followed by only two weeks of prescribed rehab therapy. Despite the long recovery process, it was an incredible learning opportunity, one that ultimately shifting my understanding of the healthcare system.

That is when I found Southern California University of Health Sciences, Doctor of Chiropractic program. In year three, I was introduced to clinical Sports Medicine. It was at this time when I discovered what I had been searching for all along. Sports Medicine is an evidence based practice promoting patient centered care and individualized treatment plans. The appropriate type of care and management plan the patient needs is rooted in finding the cause, not merely treating the associated symptoms. This direction in sports medicine is known as diagnostics.

Effective care begins with an accurate diagnosis. After finding an accurate diagnosis, what follows is a specialized plan of care. This entails prescribing movement as medicine; dynamic stability & strength training, mobility training, efficient biomechanics with functional ranges of motion, soft tissue manual therapy, cupping therapy, and individualized nutrition plans. These will be prescribed appropriately in variations, dependent on the patients specific needs. It is our goal to take full responsibility in performing appropriate case management, restoring patient autonomy, implementing an integrated approach and advocating for the overall health and well being of our patients. Getting you out of pain is just the start. Keeping you out of pain, building a stronger and more resilient you, and getting back doing what you love most is how Resonate: Rehab • Sports Medicine • Nutrition is here to help you.
